Pictures from some years back. Came to mind in the course of considerations about the role of small "pocketable" cameras today, have they been completely replaced by smartphones? It's undeniable that these phones can deliver surprisingly effective pictures. They never stay home and the large bright screen can't be beat. But - will they ever satisfy a dedicated photo enthusiast, craving optical zoom, quick exposure adjustments, handling shutter speeds and aperture size, buttons and dials instead of odysseys in the menu labyrinth?
